Newborn Photography

Until recently I have not wanted to do newborn photography.  It scared me.  The babies are so little and fragile.  But I have had several people ask me so recently I decided to take some steps into photographing newborns.  I asked around on a some of the forums I am part of and looked at examples of some of my favorite photographers.  And while I think a lot of the more posed newborn photographs are absolutely adorable they do not seem to fit my more organic style.

So I began to research natural newborn photography.  I love the idea of photographing newborns as they are.

I have begun that journey and it is was pretty fabulous.  Newborns hold so much promise, so much hope, so much joy for their parents.  This is my favorite shot from my first solo true newborn shoot.

This is gorgeous...Follow your instincts, Jennifer, and come up with your own style. This is SO lovely...look at all the soft folds in the baby's limbs...and how peaceful he/she seems. You are so talented....I want to see more of you doing newborns...they are so lovely, even without all the posing and gimmicks done by so many photogs. You have a gift for capturing people in their lovely, simple, pure essence, no matter what age. Stay with what you know, but take a risk to photograph more newborns.
